Hello Everyone!

Our DIY Privacy Fence, This summer our privacy fence is one of the projects we got done around our yard.
Our fence one sat in someone else's backyard. He sold his house to a developer, then set out salvaging whatever he could to make some extra cash. I found it on Kijiji in To. in Spring. My husband and I made the treck to his home to buy it. We went back a second time to take the fence down. The third trip we packed the pieces and hauled them home in pieces in a little "hitch cart."
Early Summer my husband started his great adventure of installing the fence around our front yard. He did the east run in two "goes". Then he did the south run in two more "goes". Now we have a great privacy fence for our front yard. The lights also came from the original fence. We already started growing Morning Glory around it. Our plan next summer is to stain the fence a cedar colour and add some more solar lights on the crown of the South posts.

The Beginnings of Our Cozy Front Yard Patio , Since we moved into our home Fall 2008, we have been working at making it our own, inside and outside. One of our plans has always been to create functional and comfortable living spaces outside. Spaces where we along with our two boys can spend time outside, during Spring, Summer and Fall.

End of Season 2011 we went into Lowes to pick up a few items and came
away with a concrete table and three benches for less than $200. My husband found the deal and could not leave it.

Now we have designed and installed a patio in our front yard to house them.
Our plans for next year (2013) are to accessorize the space, make cushions for the benches, stain the patio slabs and seal the table and benches.
A cozy space for the family!

Dining Room in Progress, Dressed mainly in tints, tones and shades of blue, yellow and white our dining room is taking on the look and feel our family desires.

The back wall is covered with a tone on tone blue wall paper with a subtle pattern. I used a glue gun to apply 1/4 inch light blue grosgrain ribbon onto the wall paper to give it added dimension.

The wall lamps are mounted on a picture, at a height to allows the picture to be visible and to wash up-light onto the picture at nights.
The picture is matted with the same wallpaper I used on the back wall and the frame is painted a gloss black.
I painted the bases of the lamps a gloss white and added navy blue crimp fabric and navy blue and white grosgrain ribbon to the top and bottom of the shade, finishing them off with a beaded trim.
I used the same navy blue crimp fabric and beaded trim on the chandelier, with a navy blue gimp trim on the top and bottom of the shade.

The mirrors and wall plaques are centered on the wall, in a pleasing pattern. Again there are hints of blue, white and yellows/golds in the mirrors and plaques.

The accessories on the extra high sideboard are in whites, blues and yellows/gold. I applied a white moulding and light blue grosgrain ribbon to the edges of the sideboard.
The sideboard is flanked with two dining chairs, which can be pulled up to the dining table to accommodate eight people.

I painted four of the dining chairs matte white to break up the brown around the table.

I added a cabinet to the south wall which houses all our wine glasses and most of our dessert glassware. Again I placed a mirror above the cabinet. All our martini accessories are placed in a silver tray, along with a lamp on top of the cabinet.

The tone on tone blue and grey area carpet with interwoven sandy beige grounds the space. While the flower in the pictures, the beaded trim on the lamps, the mirrors on both walls, the candle holders and the cushions on the flanking chairs all have varying tints, tones and shades of similar hues of the table runner.

The window treatments flow nicely with the colour of the wall. I added the navy blue gimp trim to the leading edge of the curtains and added the extra detail of horizontal pleats a little lower than midway down the panels.

Everything in the space was chosen with the likes, dislikes and needs of our family in mind. After all we have to live in and use the space! :-) , Dining Rooms Design

Sunflower Power, I planted sunflower for the first time this summer and I am very pleased with the brilliant and beautiful flowers.
Moreover I got to witness something firsthand. Have you ever noticed that as the sunflower plant grows it moves with the sun. In the morning it faces the east as the sun rises, by evening it faces west as the sun sets. By the time the flower is fully open it faces east throughout the day., Gardens Design

Curb to Couture- Chair, When we bought our house almost four years ago we inherited this chair.
I found it in the backyard, where it was abandoned to withstand the elements. Actually, it spent our first Winter covered with snow, thawed in the Spring and dried out in the Summer. Knowing it had potential and liking it's Simple lines, I moved it in with the family just before winter again!
I started the transformation by re-upholstering the seat with a fabric sample
I chose not to add extra or thicker foam to the seat, since I prefer the slim-line look, that goes well with the style of the chair.
The transformation was completed with a few coats of white satin paint.
The white allows the seat fabric to "pop" and enhances the look of the chair.
Now it is appreciated by my family and fits lovely in our home!, Home Decor Project
