My Kitchen & Breakfast Area, My kitchen includes painted off-white cabinets, wood ceiling and an eye-catching turquoise island. The cabinets go to the ceiling and feature glass-front cabinets at the top with lights. The countertops are black soapstone. My breakfast table, next to kids' table and a sitting area, is made from an old piece of wood with an iron base. My favorite thing is my backsplash. Made by a local artist, it features objects I've saved for years: my grandmother's silverware, broken dishes, shells, old keys, marbles my uncle played with as a little boy and coal miner's id tags. There's also room on the sides to store cooking oils and my collection of salt & pepper shakers., Kitchens Design
