This space went from builder's white to the colorful tropical paradise. Why wait to go on vacation? The other half of this space is a home office - ironic, right? - and was too cluttered to show.HGTV
In our new house, the breakfast nook is tight on space but warm and cozy, with a formal flair.
Wall Color: Benjamin Moore, Warm Brownie in eggshell finish
Chandelier: Minka Lavery
Copper Top Table: Crate and Barrel, topped with a round piece of glass
Settee and leather chairs: Home Goods
Rug: a local retailer
Grommet-top window panels: JCPenney, I added the green band to make them longer
Art: oil on canvas by a young artist - I had it stretched and framed which of course cost more than the painting LOL
Centerpiece: Cake stand from Pottery Barn
If first impressions count, the entrance hall deserves a special attention. In our new home, it went from a builder's white to a warm golden glow. The staircase and the floors remained the same ... but dressed up with new trim moldings, new paint on the walls, new chandeliers and sconces, and custom drapery panels framing the entrance door. The rectangular boxed trim has wallpaper inserts depicting flowering branches with little blue birds - bringing outside in - the wallpaper is somewhat reminiscent of Japanese screens. The goal was to create a warm & inviting, and a little "different" atmosphere.HGTV
This is our breakfast nook, a bright area with a view of the backyard. Because of its octagonal shape and lots of windows, it feels almost like a sunroom ... so we painted the ceiling sky blue. Copper-top table from Crate and Barrell, leather chairs from HomeGoods, area rug from JCPenney, chandy from Progressive Lighting.HGTV
Planning to host a small formal dinner party with best china fancyly folded napkins and the whole nine yards. Here is my attempt at OUTRAGEOUS over-the-top but something- different tall centerpieces. If you think is TOO over-the-top do tell !!! Oh and of course these are REAL flowers!HGTV
In our new master we are going with an UPDATED sort of old Hollywood glamour look. Traditional mixed with more modern pieces with crystal mirrored and silver accents. Thanks for visiting! This bedroom was featured as an inspiration room on the RMS TV show episode 212 which aired 12/28/08.HGTV
Unlike the old-world basement bath in our previous house (see "Roman" bath if interested) the basement in our new house got a simple powder room. No "party" shower no sauna ... just a clean almost minimalist look. When is less more? As always thanks for visiting!
CEILING PAINT is different from the wall paint. Ceiling paint is a light silver metallic paint by Ralph Lauren (Home Depot), while walls are painted with Ben Moore Smokestack Gray. Ceiling took 5 coats but was well worth it.
We just finished our basement in our new home and it's time to decorate woo-hoo! This "Metropolis" print is what you see coming down the steps (and the only thing you see). Once downstairs around the corner is a TV/media space which currently has the "Jazz" oil paining. Both pieces are about the same size 38"x50". My hubby thinks we should switch them because Metropolis is more relevant to the media room (true). I am hesitant because of the color schemes. What do you think?HGTV
This room was dubbed "the library" that turned into an old-fashioned clubby drinking-cigar-smoking-having-a-quiet-conversation-by-the-fire sitting room. It is rather small 10x11 and is perfect for 4. I wanted it to look like it's been there forever although our house is new construction. It has become my favorite of all spaces. I think my soul is OLD.HGTV
Yep the world smallest bathroom used to be an average-size powder room. After a complete gut of 5x5 space a tiny shower was squeezed in the corner. Miraculously this bathroom is functional for two people with storage space. Don't know how.HGTV
