The previous owners used this room as a formal living room. Our family doesn't use formal living rooms and I wanted a larger dining room.
We added: 1. wood floors that we had hand scraped and finished with a custom stain color 2. stucco wall done on accent wall for texture 3. painted and white washed the stucco 4. then painted the chevron pattern for the accent wall 5. added the barrel shade chandelier 6. had custom drapes made in my favorite trellis pattern 7. Found new DR chairs which I had re-upholstered in zebra print. The table and buffet are Very old set I found years ago. I plan to either paint them, or replace them. I still need a great 12x14 rug.
I had the honor and privilege to do a master bedroom and bathroom makeover for a Beautiful woman and mother who was dying of cancer. This project was the most Amaizing experience of my life and the lives of everyone involved. I will treasure the memories forever. We revealed her new bedroom on Monday Aug 6th. There was not a dry eye in the house. It was Priceless. Angela went to Heaven on Sept 19th.
Added custom made knotty alder cabinets, new floors, granite, stainless appliances and subway tile backplash in a herringbone pattern ( my favorite*)HGTV
AFTER: I wanted the look of wallpaper, so I painted the whole room in a cream color. I printed a stecil from online. then, cut it out, and traced it on the wall...over..and over..and over again. shew! Then I hand painted it all. And, this was the result. Hand painted wallpaper. :-) And, YES it was alot of work, especially having to work around the toilet and sink. I only bought the new mirror so far. I haven't bought the new towel bar & toilet paper holder yet, but this is "close enough" to being done. :-)HGTV
I wanted to create a casual but fun, modern meets traditional dining room with plenty of texture and character. We first added hardwood floors. The accent wall was done in Stucco for texture. Then I painted the whole room in tan color, then white washed the accent wall. Then came the fun but time consuming part of taping off the chevron pattern. Then I painted every other chevron stripe in solid cream. I will add close up pic later. The chandelier was just added to the room. The raw silk drapes add another means of texture and pattern. The dining room furniture is an old set from consignment store. It bought it 8 years ago for our old house. I need a much bigger table for this new DR, but its not in the budget yet. I was at least able to score these Great new DR chairs and had them re-upholstered in zebra pattern. The larger chairs made the table look bigger. I still need buffet lamps, but its coming along... We've had plenty of great Cajun dinners in here!HGTV
Spring time is my favorite time of year. I Love seeing all of the flowers and trees come to life... all the color begin to pop up in the garden...and watching all the butterflies, quirrels and birds come around.HGTV
As a Louisiana native, my friends Love when I have them over for cajun food. As a Thank You to my dear friends that helped me organize and deliver for my annual homeless drive, I hosted a cajun dinner party, with Mardi Gras theme. It just gave me a good excuse to put up my mardi gras decorations early. ;) I had my favorite Sounds of Bourbon Street music playing. The menu included: BBQ shrimp, seafood gumbo and chicken and sausage gumdo. Yum!!HGTV
