My design philosophy is your space should feel good. It should be a manifestation of what makes you happy and gives you a sense of comfort and joy. Whether it be a hallway filled with meaningful photographs-artfully displayed- that serve to remind you of how blessed you are-- Or, something fun and unexpected in your laundry room that lifts your spirits and lessens the chore---- Or a perfectly cozy chair to cradle you after a long days work. Your home is your refuge and should be soothing- never stressful!

Interior Design has always been a passion- but not a profession until a few years ago- when I knew a life change was coming (a divorce and wanted to turn my long-time passion into my profession. I went back to college- at 40- got a second degree in Interior Design- then went to work.
The field of interior design is a wonderful world and I'm so happy to share some of my recent work with you.

I work at By Design Interiors in Houston, TX. You can check out their website at

Southern Living House, My over arching desire was to create a space that was classic, timeless, and long lasting, while offering every comfort imaginable. I was very pleased to hear the oooohs and ahhh’s from the over 3,000 guests who toured this home in the Southern Living Showcase open house event.

From the moment you open the French doors, you witness the planning and attention to detail in every inch of this well appointed, bathing retreat. Utilizing symmetry and balance- this room inherently offers a feeling of calm, order and relaxation.

The warm color palette engulfs the room- from the wainscot tiled walls to the mosaic glass and stone tiled barrel arch ceiling and gently fauxed walls. This room glows under the flicker of spectacular lighting and very real looking LED candles.

True to both form and function, the room is spacious. It offers a barrier free shower entry complete with digital temperature controls programmable to the user’s bathing preferences, multiple shower heads and hand held, a gracious shower bench, heated towel bar and custom vanities with high style and hidden electrical outlets and in a ‘hot drawer’ so that no clutter spoils the beauty. The beverage bar and mirror TV make getting ready in the morning a treat. Motion censored LED lighting guides the path at night.

Classic and timeless, this bath will look as good in 20 years as it does today! Luxe materials such as honed limestone counters especially selected for their quartz and shell attributes connect strongly with nature and beauty, hand-made subway tiles add a touch of tradition, while the drum shade light fixture leans more transitional. Every finish offers easy care such as the man-made flooring and shower wall tile – that are indistinguishable from natural stone. Perfect tile work in design, layout and installation make this bath truly spectacular. , Bathrooms Design

Professional Photographed "Relaxing Retreat", Color goes a long ways in adding or detracting from your mood and feelings especially in tender times.

On this project there a loss had occurred- the loss of my client’s sweet mother and their much-loved family Bassett hound both passed within a very short time of each other. All this emotional heaviness caused the family to desire a lighter- fresher living space- to lift the mood of their mostly ‘brown and black’ master suite and add a sense of peace and calm.

The dark tan walls and ceiling received a wonderfully luxurious faux treatment called ‘luster stone’ in a blissful blue-green tone. Keeping all their existing furnishings; only a larger bedside tables graced with updated frames for family pictures, a palette-extending rug under foot, simple window treatments, and new lamps were added. I refinished and upholstering their previously big, brown and black bed-to a more comfortable and dreamy-looking bed with a padded head and footboard. The changes were relatively minor with but added a total freshness and elegance to the space.

The master bath was a complete make over with a crowing jewel – the lovely chandelier which had hung over my client’s mother’s dining table now graces that space and serves to remind that mom is still lighting the way.

These changes helped to create a relaxing-retreat for this couple and one that soothes the senses. , Bedrooms Design
