Keep on Truckin', Zac's Dad called me and asked if there was a way to take an old truck apart and reassemble it in his son's room. My initial response was "sure, anything can be done, but..." Insert 100 reasons why it wouldn't work. Let's say he was a little disappointed. As our conversation developed, it came to light that it wasn't the idea of a real truck he was hot on, it was the fact that he didn't want one cut out of plywood and painted to look like a truck. He was in love with the idea of a 3 dimensional truck. The solution I proposed was to build our own vintage truck. So that's what we did. Styled after a 1940's Ford/Chevy pick up, we sculpted a scaled down version with an extended bed to accommodate a twin mattress. We topped off our handy work with a distressed paint finish and trim pieces. The only real parts on this bed are the wheels from a volkswagon and the steering wheel. We outfitted the room with a faux garage door sporting a logo of his son Zac's fictitious custom automotive business. I apologize to those of you that had seen this a month or so ago, it seems that several of my uploads were deleted by some gliche. So, here we are again, kickin the tires., Boys' Rooms Design

The Good Doctor, Natasha's family collects Dr. Seuss art and artifacts. They knew that beyond his writing and illustration of kids books, Dr. Seuss explored fine art painting and dabbled in fictitious faux taxidermy. Myself, being a collector of vintage Seuss memorabilia, I jumped at the chance to design their daughter's room, while using the existing furniture from her princess toddler years. Now, one thing about being a professional artist and ethical designer is brought to the forefront when designing a room inspired by someone else's copyrighted intellectual property. And that is infringement. As a professional, I can not nor would want to simply create a mural using his characters. One, it's illegal for me to do and secondly, I enjoy a challenge. The challenge being how to embody the great doctors style yet not infringe upon his body of work. To do so, I put on my fezzelwig thinking fedora, grabbed my 39 and half foot measuring feet tape and began doodling with pencils great and small, some pencils short and the others tall....okay, you get the point :) , Girls' Rooms Design
